Lakes Entrance

It was a pleasant change from our arrival at Wilson's Promontory, to leave in daylight and to have lovely open and empty roads to drive. We approached the town down the hill with a perfect view of the "lakes entrance". A man-made narrow gap in the sand barrier that runs for miles along the ocean front. To the north is Eastern Beach, where we stayed and to the south is Ninety Mile Beach. I do not believe this is an accurate name, but its an awful lot of beach. Behind the sand bank, which is about 100m wide on average, lies a lake network of some 420 square kilometres. We saw so much wildlife in this area, including Pelicans, Cockatoos, Seals, Sea Eagles just to name a few. Most of this we observed from our camp or on the 3 hour Eco boat tour of the Lakes. We will let you experience this wonderful location through the photographs, so snuggle up like Sue and Trev the Cockatoos for the show. Is it my imagination or does Sue keep shuffling in the wrong direction?

Sue and Trev the Cockatoos decided it was time to leave. They love to make a lot of noise.

Our next port of call is Merimbula. Here we will be spending time with my Dad's sister Maggie, who will be 90 at the end of April. We will pick up our travel adventure in Tilba Tilba where we will be camped by Wallaga Lake.

Lots of love,

Sue & Trev xx

We can see from all your blogs so far that you're having a wonderful time and everything looks fantastic. That must be so amazing to meet family you've not seen before. Shirley is sending you a WhatsApp message as I type. Enjoy the rest of your "holiday of a lifetime".
