So we arrived in Australia after a 3.5 hour flight from Auckland. This was a few days back but it has been a very busy, fabulous first week in Australia. More of that later.
A few minutes after leaving the airport our driver pointed out the many kangaroos in the fields next to the highway. Wasn't expecting to see kangaroos so soon!
Our hotel dated back to 1800's and had loads of Colonial charm, as well as an impressive history of former guests.

Obviously, this will now need to be amended to include Sue & Trev Clark.

We discovered that we were able to travel free on all the trams in the centre of Melbourne, especially the old No. 35 tram, which circled the city centre.

The shopping centre had an ancient Lead Shot Factory standing in the middle, which was a lot lovelier than the shopping centre built around it.

We got to see a lot of the City. Docklands, a lovely little roof top bar, the Imperial Hotel, the old arcade shops and a great little restaurant that did the most wonderful and hottest ever Thai Green chicken curry!

We also visited a modern art exhibition, with a whole gallery dedicated to a talking mouse, who’s head was stuck through the bottom of the wall in one corner. He also had his own security guard.

Other exhibits were more spectacular.

On our way to collect the hire car we dropped into Melbourne’s old Jail House. By comparison the Windsor Hotel was very comfortable. Ned Kelly was one of the 176 inmates hanged in the jail. We were pleased we had stayed on the right side of the law during our stay!

After collecting the hire car and circumnavigating the centre of Melbourne twice, we set off for Geelong to spend time with family. Please feel free to come and join us all.
Lots of love,
Sue & Trev xx
